Just got back from a holiday in Prussia Cove in Cornwall. Visited the Tate in St Ives whilst there and discovered this guy. He was a fisherman and turned to painting when his wife died. he paints everything side on. Theres a great quote in the book that I bought.Someone said,"my kids could paint that" someone else replied, "Yes, but could you?" Love that. I tried to paint one on a piece of drift wood. It's hard to paint like a child, or an untrained old fisherman who's wifes just died. Try it.
They are fantastic.
Cardboard is lovely to paint on.
Have you seen COBRA stuff?
Jean De Buffett is great,
some Asger Jorn too.
